ROOTS School

Roots schools is located in the heart of Haiku town on the island of Maui which provides distinctive educational and cultural resources. Through their project-based approach, multi-age setting, small classes, and emphasis on critical thinking and creativity, they create a flexible learning environment to encourage students to develop their unique potential. Along with mathematics, science, history, social science, language arts, and foreign language classes, they offer fine and performing arts, physical education, gardening, student activities, and field trips.


Grow Some Good

Grow Some Good is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating hands-on, outdoor learning experiences that cultivate curiosity about natural life cycles, connect students to their food sources, and inspire better nutrition choices. In addition to helping establish food gardens and living science labs in local schools, we provide resources and curriculum support through community partnerships in agriculture, science, food education, and nutrition.The Maui School Garden Network goal is to move Maui's children towards taking up their kuleana to develop a greater sense of food security as well as understanding of nutrition in Maui County by teaching our children how to grow their own food in sustainable school gardens and by promoting a direct connection between local food producers and our school food service providers for all K-12 schools, independent and public.

Malama Family Recovery Center

Malama Family Recovery Center provides caring, holistic substance abuse treatment to women and children so families can live safe, independent and healthy lives.

As Maui’s only women-specific addiction and substance abuse treatment center, they strive to provide a continuum of care with Therapeutic and Sober Living Programs, Intensive Outpatient, Outpatient, and Aftercare services. They are also the only place on the island where young children and infants can live with their mothers while they get the help needed.

Maui Food Hub

The Maui Hub is a non-profit, community-based, organization whose primary mission is to provide local fresh and affordable produce to Maui residents at all income levels, food banks, and community kitchens. The Maui helps to make it possible for farmers to work together to meet the growing demand for local, sustainable food on Maui. 



HIPHI is a non-profit hub for health, bringing community-based organizations, government, academia, foundations and business together to improve the quality of life for the people of Hawai‘i.

Building healthier communities requires collaboration on a variety of issues that impact health, including transportation, education, access to healthy food and economic opportunity.

Maui United Way

Maui United Way has stayed vital to our community since 1945 for good reason: we know how to put the right people together with the right resources to make the right things happen. We are working to address Maui’s most vital needs through the impact areas of Education, Income (sustainability) and Health.
